SPACE QUEST IV CD
HOW TO USE THIS PATCH
First, we'd like to apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced
with your Space Quest IV CD. The new sound file that accompanies
this "READ.ME" file will prevent a lock up problem when the "zombie"
screams if you have a Turtle Beach Multisound card or another sound card
that doesn't support variable sound sample rates through Windows.
The following instructions will provide a step by step procedure to update
your current version of Space Quest IV CD. If you are uncertain or need
assistance with using this patch, please contact our Technical Support
Department. Information on how to reach Technical Support will be provided
at the end of this file.
HOW TO USE THIS PATCH
1. If you have not already done so, you must install the Space Quest IV CD
game files to your hard drive. To do this through Windows, select RUN from
the FILE menu. Type E:SETUP where E is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
Choose "Install game to hard drive (faster)". NOTE: Hard drive installation
requires 6 megabytes of free hard drive space (12 megabytes if you are using
a hard drive compression program like Stacker or SuperStor).
2. Use the DOS "copy" command to copy the sound file to the same directory
that your Space Quest IV CD-ROM game files are located. In most cases, the
game files are in directory c:\SIERRA\SQ4, although this will change if
you chose a different hard drive or directory when you were installing Space
Quest IV CD. Here's an example of the copy command:
COPY B:*.* C:\SIERRA\SQ4
This example copy command will copy all the files from the current
directory on drive b: to the Space Quest IV CD-ROM game directory on drive
c:. This example assumes that the patch disk is in drive b: and that the
game files are in the \SIERRA\SQ4 directory on drive c:.
3. Once the sound file is in your game directory, then you're ready to go!
